Time once again for Take a Stitch Tuesday challenge by pintangle. This week’s stitch is the Detached Chain Stitch otherwise known as the Lazy Daisy Stitch.
At the suggestion of my very clever husband, I decided to continue with the animal theme started last week with my Chevron Stitch Zebra. Once I had showed him what the stitch looked like, Burton quickly fired off several drawings of animals that could be adapted to stitch. My personal favorite is the Swallowtail caterpillars although I do like the owls a lot too. With tiny black beads for eyes, all animals are stitched using the Detached Chain Stitch exclusively. I strip pieced the background fabric with scraps from the church banners that I finished up a few days ago. I like how the stripes work for this sampler.
I like the caterpillars too, also the ducks…..and the bunnies.
I like how the bunnies are all different although all the same stitches. It’s like they have personalities.
Voici des broderies qui me palisent bien… des chouettes, j’adore. moi, j’ai fait des libellules. I like owls
I visited your blog and saw the dragonflies. They are free spirits. Nice work
This is a really sweet sampler!
Thanks, this has been a challenge that has made me think differently.
This is such fun! My vote goes to the ducks.
I’ve printed a copy of this picture for my inspiration book. I may need some owls on a block.

If you do stitch any owls, I’d like to see pictures!
Cute! What an inspiration. I rarely stitch animals, usually I prefer flowers and leaves but your animals are so cute … who knows. You have a really clever husband and you are a great stitcher. Your sampler just makes me smile. Thank you for that.
I’m glad to know that it made you smile. Stitching brings me great peace.
Your little animal and critters idea is just so wonderful. Well done. I love the row of owls and the caterpillars.
I love this. It is fun and creative. Simply charming!
absolutely adorable!
It is really a brilliant idea..loved all the works especially ducks..
Every row is sooo good. Makes me smile too.
I love your embroidered menagerie (and yes, I’ve seen the zebra too). I hope you’ll be adding to it!
I haven’t decided yet what I’ll be doing with this week’s stitch. Thanks for the compliment.
So cute and creative! Well done!
