Triangular Feather Stitch

Time for Take a Stitch Tuesday.  I skipped last week…I’ll have to make it up later.  This week’s stitch was a winner though.  It’s another variation of feather stitch and a good candidate for my slow project–the armadillo.

armadillo head armorHere is the armor plate for his head.  I really like the way the stitch works down the center.  The border around the edge is my own interpretation that comes from not paying attention to the work.  I worked this during stitching circle and obviously was talking too much.  The curves on the edge made if even more difficult and about half is not as is should be.  Another oops moment.

Like the rest of the armadillo, this is crewel wool with a few beads stitched on hand needle felted wool.

Perfect for the armadillo’s armor. This stitch is so attractive when worked in mirror image.
I, too, found it easier to work the long stitch on the right hand side.

Your stitches and the colours look great together even with your oopses. That armadillo is going to look so neat!
